German speciality chemicals company Lanxess has shown its expertise in product innovation for synthetic rubber with its latest concept tyre.
This tyre is amongst the first to be introduced that would get the AA rating under the latest approved regulations on labeling in the European Union that will start to effect on November. This announcement has strengthens Lanxess’ osition in its throne as the leading company to enable “Green mobility”.
“We believed that creating our own concept tire was essential to developing a thorough command of our high-tech solutions and their significance to the finished product,” said Dr. Joachim Grub, Head of the Performance Butadiene Rubbers business unit at Lanxess. “We are now moving from the age of tire design to the age of tire materials, which will make the difference in performance.”
The Lanxess AA concept tyres enable the company to prove material that have been rigorously tested – allowing the customers more speedy tyre consorting in the market which can strengthen its position.
What Lanxess wants to put emphasis to in its demonstration of the concept tyres is the benefit of its neodymium-based performance butadiene rubber (Nd-PBR) to increase durability which can boost the durability of tyres, especially the AA-rated tyres.
Lanxess is the market leader for Nd-PBR used in “Green Tires” – the fastest growing sector in the tire industry, with an annual global growth rate of about 10 percent.
The demand for these types is driven by the mobility, particularly in Asia and Latin America as more people in these areas are prospering. The demand is also expected to boost as tyre labeling is introduce globally.
The mandatory labeling of the European Union will be in effect on November 2012. With this, the tyres will be labeled A to G according to its wet grip and fuel efficiency as well as rolling noise. (PRA)
