SOUTH Korea’s Kumho Tires is sponsoring the 2013 Chinese Touring Car Championship, effecting the deal it has signed in late 2012, also making the tyre manufacturer the race’s official tyre supplier.
Kumho has outbid Yokohama and Michelin in clinching the contract that covers the 2013, 2014 and 2015 series.
Formerly called China Circuit Championship until renamed in 2009, the CTCC showcases China’s ace-level racers , supported by the FASC (Federation of Automobile Sports of PRC) and FIA (Federation International de l’Automobile) and watched by thousands of race enthusiasts.
“Through this partnership with the CTCC, Kumho is able to confirm that our technology and reputation in China are well recognised and increasing in strength,” said Hyung Woo Kim, marketing executive of Kumho Tires China.
The company has been a regular sponsor of Chinese motorsport events such as the Asia Formula Renault (AFR) in 2006 and the China Rally Championship (CRC) since 2011.
Aside from the racing events, Kumho Tires is also launching various marketing programmes to that will include Public forum participated by industry experts; academic cooperation with Qingdao University towards China’s industrial development; multilateral ad campaigns to increase public awareness and consumer; and promotions for brand image-building.
