JAPANESE automaker, Toyota Motor Corp disclosed that March sales of the company and its China joint ventures reach 75,900 units in the country , an 11.7% drop from a year earlier.
From January to March, Toyota’s total sales in China reach 184,700 units, down 12.7% from the same period a year earlier. Whereas, its combined Chinese sales in January-February were down 13.3% year-on-year.
Japanese car makers have been faced with sales slump since late last year following anti-Japan protests in September spurred by territorial disputes between the two countries.
Whilst recently, car sales may have recovered but Japanese-brand vehicles still continue to face the brunt of an ongoing diplomatic strain.
Toyota, which operates car ventures in China with FAW Group and Guangzhou Automobile Group Co , is targeting sales of 900,000 cars in China this year, up 7.1% from a year earlier
