I Squared Capital, a global infrastructure investment firm headquartered in Miami, has signed an agreement to acquire Liberty Tire Recycling from Energy Capital Partners, a leading investor in energy transition infrastructure. The acquisition adds Liberty to I Squared’s expanding portfolio of environmental infrastructure companies and strengthens its commitment to sustainable business development.
Liberty Tire Recycling is North America’s largest end-of-life tyre (ELT) recycling company, operating more than 50 facilities across the US. Each year, it collects and processes over 215 million tyres, converting them into reusable materials that support industrial, commercial, and consumer markets. The company plays a key role in advancing circular economy initiatives through its sustainable tyre-derived products.
Energy Capital Partners, which acquired Liberty in 2021, worked with the company’s management team to develop a national, vertically integrated tyre management platform.
Under I Squared’s ownership, Liberty will continue to expand its recycling capabilities while investing in automation and technology to improve efficiency and environmental performance. The company plans to pursue acquisitions that will broaden its product range and geographic reach.
Financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed.
