According to data from the Rubber Board, India, natural rubber (NR) production in the country increased by 6% to 50,000 tonnes in June from 47,000 tonnes in the same month last year. Meanwhile, NR imports were down by 4%.
NR consumption in June increased by 7.5% to 87,000 tonnes compared to 80,955 tonnes on June 15, the Rubber Board added.
Imports declined to 37,336 tonnes in June this year from 38,923 tonnes in the year-ago period, while exports rose to 44 tonnes from 6 tonnes.
During the April-June quarter of the current fiscal year, production of natural rubber increased by 2.3% to 135,000 tonnes from 132,000 lakh tonnes in the year-ago period, the data said.
The consumption of natural rubber rose by 5%to 255,750 tonnes during the first quarter of this fiscal from 243,535 tonnes in the corresponding period of the previous year, the data showed.
Imports fell to 107,331 tonnes during April-June quarter of 2016-17 financial year from 112,844 tonnes during the year-ago period.
Natural rubber stock at the end of June stood at 208,000tonnes.
Exports during the first quarter of this fiscal rose to 233 tonnes from just 14 tonnes in the corresponding period last fiscal.
