GLOBAL car maker General Motors (GM) has recently recognised 83 of its best global automotive suppliers. The citation was done during its 21st annual Supplier of the Year awards ceremony, held at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History in Detroit.
The Supplier of the Year award is given to less than 1% of GM’s approximately 18,500 suppliers around the world. The winners are recognised for delivering innovative technology, superior quality, timely crisis management and competitive, total-enterprise cost solutions.
The companies have headquarters in 17 countries with regional manufacturing and support services all over the world. Of the 83 recipients, five are certified diverse suppliers and 46 are repeat winners from last year.
In addition to the Supplier of the Year awards, GM introduced the Overdrive award that gives recongnition to suppliers who have undertaken extraordinary initiatives that drove exceptional results for GM’s business. Four companies received this award,
The 2012 General Motors Overdrive award recipients are: Ideal Contracting (Detroit); Clark Cutler McDermott (Massachusetts); International Automotive Component Group (Michigan); and SL Corporation (South Korea).
The Supplier of the Year and Overdrive award winners are chosen by a global team of GM purchasing, engineering, quality, manufacturing and logistics executives.
