Switzerland-based Foster Wheeler AG has been awarded a contract to build an ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) rubber plant at Changzhou Yangtze Riverside Industrial Park in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, China.
The engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) contract has been awarded by Lanxess Changzhou Co., Ltd, a unit of the German speciality chemicals firm, Lanxess,. to put up a new facility that will produce 160,000 tonnes of EPDM rubber per year The construction of the new facility will be started in 2015.
EPDM is a material used in the automotive industry for windscreen wipers and door sealants as well as cable and wires, construction, plastics modification and oil additives.
