EVONIK Industries has just held the groundbreaking ceremony for its new hydrogen peroxide plant in China. Scheduled to go online at the end of 2013, the plant will have a production capacity of 230,000 metric tonnes per year. This additional capacity will increase the company’s current overall annual capacity for around 600,000 metric tonnes of hydrogen peroxide production by nearly 40%.
Evonik Specialty Chemicals (Jilin), founded by Evonik Industries, will manage the new production facility. Evonik will supply its hydrogen peroxide from Jilin directly to the adjacent propylene oxide plant run by Jishen Chemical Industry via a pipeline that will link the two facilities. A long-term supply agreement is in place between these companies. Jishen will use the HPPO process to make propylene oxide from the hydrogen peroxide.(PRA)
