British tyre manufacturer Dunlop Aircraft Tyres said it has identified a site in Mocksville for the company’s first US retreading facility and plans to create at least 40 jobs within the first two years of operation, according to multiple reports.
According to a Dunlop press release, Dunlop officials said that it will establish an operation in Mocksville subject to state funding to support the modernization of a 108,480-square-foot vacant industrial building in Davie County.
“We plan to create at least 40 jobs within our first two years of operation and there is the prospect of more to follow as we expand our presence in the market,” said Dunlop Aircraft Tyres’ Chairman Ian Edmondson.
The Winston-Salem Journal reports that the property is located in Hollingsworth Enterprises’ business park at 205 Enterprise Way and that commissioners from Davie County and the town of Mocksville approved performance based incentives on Monday with a package that will reimburse the company with about $212,000 in taxes over five years.
Dunlop Aircraft Tyres is also seeking approval for a $500,000 grant from the N.C. Commerce Department’s building reuse program, the Winston-Salem Journal reported.
Dunlop said the site offers good transportation links and that the company is confident it can find an excellent work force within the Mocksville and Davie County region.
Subject to approval of the funding, the company will begin work to modernize and equip the site “as soon as possible and plan to open for business in early 2016,” Edmondson s
