CONTINENTAL truck tyres reach new heights as they are being installed on the London Eye. The rotation of the wheel is dependent on Continental Truck tyres. Continental HSRs (heavy steer regional truck tyres) function as rollers along the rim of the wheel.
Each tyre is turned by hydraulic motors as the rotation of the tyres allows the wheel structure to enable a rotating view of the London skyline. “The HSRs have to rotate along the rim of the London Eye throughout the hours of operation, and it’s imperative that there be no downtime and that they are low maintenance,” says Mark Robinson, head of technical operations for the EDF Energy London Eye.
