In anticipation of next summer’s Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan, Bridgestone Corporation (Bridgestone) – the only Worldwide Olympic and Paralympic Partner with global headquarters in the same city-is focused on supporting and enhancing the experience for all athletes, staff, fans and visitors during the upcoming Games. Bridgestone hopes to deliver sustainable contributions to the host city and its residents, long after the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The tyre and rubber company is part of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), and the Tokyo Organizing Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (TOCOG). Owing to 90 years of innovative history in Japan, these partnerships are expected to deliver one of the most efficient and sustainable Games – Bridgestone plans to leverage its position as the Official Tire of the Olympic and Paralympic Games by providing products to official fleet vehicles; has installed seismic isolation bearings in the Tokyo Aquatics Centre and Ariake Arena to decrease the chances of damage in the event of an earthquake; and is committed to support the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s Transport Demand Management (TDM) to ease traffic and congestion in the host city during the Games, as well as a volunteer program that will allow its employees to work with organisers to ensure a smooth and efficient Games experience for fans and athletes.
Aside from contributing diversified products and solutions to promote efficient and sustainable mobility, all of Bridgestone’s Games Partnerships are designed to empower people of all abilities to persevere through adversity and “Chase Your Dream.” The company is thus partnering with over 50 inspiring Olympic and Paralympic Games athletes and hopefuls across more than 15 countries to serve as brand ambassadors, in addition to supporting over 200 National Olympic Committees (NOC’s) – a testament to the company’s belief in the power of sport to excite, unite and inspire.
