Bridgestone Corp. plans to establish a US$42 million technical centre in Bangkok this year to cover development work for the firm’s activities throughout Asia Pacific. The centre will be operational by July under the direction of Bridgestone Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd.
The centre will house about 100 employees, who will be active in tyre development, production technology development, quality management and procurement. The Thai tech center underscores Bridgestone’s strategy to amplify its presence in Asia/Pacific by enhancing R&D, expanding its sales network and increasing tire production capacity.
This will be Bridgestone’s sixth technical centre worldwide. The others are in Tokyo and Yokohama, Japan; Akron, Ohio; Rome, Italy; and Wuxi, China.(RJA)
