Indian tyre maker Balkrishna Industries Limited (BKT) recently rolled out its first radial tyres for the agriculture sector, having expanded the production at its Bhuj production site to meet increasing demand worldwide for the sector.
BKT adds that it has invested around EUR95 million to enhance production at the site. The new plant now spreads over 12 acres to help achieve its full manufacturing capacity of 50,000 tonnes within six months. The site currently exports tyres to over 160 countries.
Arvind Poddar, BKT Chairman/MD said the expansion was to meet the growing demand for agriculture tyres worldwide.
He added “There is a strong indication that growth in this sector is here to stay. In keeping with the company vision of growth and quality, the present expansion would meet the expectations of our loyal customers. During one of the most difficult times that the world has seen, we adopted a strategy that helped us satisfy even our most demanding customers and deliver our products as per their requirements. We truly feel that it is time to act and put our best foot forward to meet our commitment to the rising needs of our customers. This expansion is our answer to the universal demand.”
