THE emergence of the bird flu virus strain, H7N9 in China has surged demand for examination gloves, benefiting the global rubber gloves industry, according to a report by the Affin Investment Bank.
In lieu of this, glove makers such as Malaysia-based Top Glove Crop Bhd, Hartalega Holdings Bhd, Supermax Corp Bhd , and Kossan Rubber Industriesare witnessing a rise in their shares and trading volumes, recently.
Affin Investment relayed that the rubber gloves industry looks into China and India as a demand spot for gloves, expected to churn out two to three-fold higher demand than the current global demand.
In January 2013, Malaysia’s rubber gloves export volume jumped 31.8% year-on-year to 50,360 tonnes, whilst the export value grew 16.8% y-o-y to RM877 million.\
