A Somerset-based manufacturer of speciality silicones has been taken over.
Amber Chemicals, which operates out of Bridgwater, was bought by Michigan-headquartered manufacturing giant ICM. The Amber Chemicals group comprises ACC Silicones, Quantum Silicones, Amber Silicones (Tianjin), Treco Srl and Siovation.
Amber Chemicals has plants in the UK, Italy, China and the US.
The newly acquired group’s products include adhesives and sealants, coatings, anti-foams, emulsions, greases, encapsulants, lubricants, release agents, moulding rubber, silicone foam and silicone fluids.
Clearwater Corporate Finance advised Caledonia Investments on the sale to ICM.
Duncan Johnson, head of unquoted investments at Caledonia, said: “We were delighted to work with Clearwater, whose extensive chemicals sector knowledge and hands-on approach were important to us identifying this strategic buyer and completing the sale.”
