The All India Rubber Industries Association (AIRIA), the largest not-for-profit non-government body serving India’s rubber industry and trade, is collaborating with Tripura University (TU) for the promotion of rubber technology programmes in the country.
The two organisations will jointly facilitate rubber education, rubber skills training and research cooperation in rubber technology and polymer science through the collaboration.
The agreement was signed between Anjan Ghosh, Tripura University vice-chancellor, and Kamal Chowdhury, AIRIA president, in the presence of President of India, Pranab Mukherjee.
“The collaboration is a win-win industry-academia venture. It will make available trained personnel at various levels to meet the demand for manpower and accelerate the development of the industry. At the same time, the courses would enhance the employability of students of TU by equipping them with industry/ business relevant skills,” said Chowdhury.
The collaboration will also provide the university access to industrial environments for applied and problem-based research activities.
“Tripura University has already become an affiliated partner of rubber skill development council (RSDC), the sector skill council for rubber in the country, for rubber education and rubber skill development training. RSDC will provide certification and assessment support to the University,” Ghosh said.
The agreement will also help existing work force in rubber in getting certified in the skills through RSDC making them readily employable.
