Chinese tyre manufacturer Sailun has announced it is building an industrial park in Cambodia called the “Cambodia Kampot Special Economic Zone Project”, according to a report in the Khmer Times.
Furthermore, Sailun said that it is preparing to set up a wholly-owned subsidiary, Kampot Bay Investment Co., Ltd., in Cambodia, which will be responsible for implementing the project known as Kampot SEZ. The project’s total investment is about US$110 million, which Sailun says it will raise.
Previously, Sailun had said it plans to set up an all-steel radial truck tyre production plant in addition to its existing tyre manufacturing facility in Cambodia, investing an additional US$268 million. The company said production would be 1.6 million tyres/year, for exports to the US and Europe
Sailun also holds the distinction of establishing Cambodia’s first tyre production facility, which began operations in late 2021 after a two-year construction period.
