Kian Hon Tyres opens first facility in ASEAN region

Malaysian tyre manufacturer Kian Hon Tyres opens its new facility in Nibong Tebal in Malaysia, the first Maxiss retreading plant in South East Asia.

Together with Taiwanese company Cheng Shin Rubber Ind. Co Ltd also known as Maxxis International , Kian Hon has created Maxiss International Malaysia, an RM 20Million worth facility for  retreading and treated liner for Maxiss Tyres in the region. The result of the setup will also help the company gauge its future expansion plans in Indonesia and the Philippines next year.

The site will also include the Maxxis Asia Truck and Bus Radial Education Centre (Matec), a knowledge centre for Maxxis tyres distributors and other stakeholders.

The plant will have a maximum capacity of 120,000 retreaded tyres annually and will produce some 15,000 piexes of tread liners  monthly.

From the investment,  the company is expecting an estimated RM200 million turnover next financial year from the current year’s RM150 million turnover.

Kian Hon’s chairman Tan Yang Nam said the company is growing by 10% each year, adding that the new plant may increase their expenditure by 30%.

Maxiss International, a leading manufacturer of tyres and other industrial products has an estanlished tyre market in China and Taiwan with global operations in Asia, Africa, Europe, United States and South America. Its products are distributed to over 170 countries.
