Yokohama recalls tyres

Yokohama Tyres is recalling its Yokohama Avid Touring S radials because of the irregular geometry of the tyre casing.

According to NHTSA, Yokohama Tyre Corp. is taking back their tyres included in the Yokohama Avid Touring S radials line because of the “irregular geometry in the casing turn up area above the tyre bead in the lower sidewall.

The tyres that will be recalled were produced between February and April 2009 with sizes 215/65T16 98T SL. But, Yokohama said that tyres that are affected are only 10,669.

The company said that the irregular geometry may cause lower sidewall crack which may lead to rapid loss of inflation of the tyre. (RJA)
