Trelleborg opens new Indian AVS factory

Trelleborg Anti-Vibration Solutions (AVS), part of Swedish Trelleborg Group, has opened a new manufacturing facility for rail anti-vibration systems in Bengaluru, India.

The 6,200 sq.-m. facility will boost Trelleborg’s production capabilities in the region and facilitate the local manufacture of Trelleborg’s portfolio for the rail industry. Employment of about 100 personnel on operation will enhance distribution and reduce lead times for specifiers, while reflecting Trelleborg’s high production standards for anti-vibration systems that have been honed over some 70 decades.

Trelleborg’s AVS operation team will work closely with major original equipment manufacturers to share its expertise in Indian rail infrastructure to ensure the design and delivery of market-leading anti-vibration solutions. Trelleborg’s team will be equipped to support all engineering requirements for the region’s rail industry with development of an engineering centre later on within the new facility.

Ranadip Basu, General Manager of the Bengaluru facility, has said: “The opening represents a significant investment and demonstrates commitment to local manufacturing, which enables Trelleborg to better serve customers with local expertise- Bengaluru is the perfect location for Trelleborg AVS’ new facility. The increased production capacity will see market-leading solutions delivered with reduced lead times, making Trelleborg a reliable partner for customers’ projects – the company will work closely with customers, both to understand their specific challenges and provide custom solutions which meet their precise specifications, and strives to deliver the very best solutions to help overcome these challenges around vibration.”

Trelleborg AVS identifies and removes unwanted vibration and noise for more efficient rail machinery and mass transit applications. Trelleborg plans to further develop its Bengaluru anti-vibration facility to occupy a total of 8,200 sq.-m. within the upcoming three years.
