Thailand’s Rubber City project attracts prospective investors

Thailand’s-RubberAccording to a recent report, Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) governorWeeraphongChaipherm said that a large number of investors have shown interests in the country’s Rubber City project in Songkhla.

Earlier reports this year also said that the Thai government aims to attract investments worth US$10 billion for the development of the project.  Among those showing great interest in investing in the industrial estate are Chinese investors. Meanwhile, the Rubber Authority of Thailand has assured that there will be enough rubber to supply to manufacturing plants to be built in Rubber City.

Chaipherm added that the industrial estate will be equipped with rubber specialists and scientists who will contribute to technological and productivity growth.

Several local small- and medium-sized rubber manufacturers are also planning to set up factories with a combined value of at least 2.4 billion baht to produce block rubber and rubber tyres.

In another earlier report, SuwatanaKmolwatananisa, IEAT governor’s assistant, said that the Rubber City is slated for completion in seven years. It will mainly focus on the midstream and downstream industry, and will be an integrated rubber processing centre, including for tyres, rubber gloves and compound rubber.
