RISDA, Felda and Felcra team up for rubber projects

Rubber-plantations

The Rubber Industry Smallholders Development Authority (RISDA) will team up with the Federal Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority (Felcra) and the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) for future projects for rubber farmers in Malaysia

RISDA’s Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob feels that the projects done by the three plantation agencies are very similar and would be more effective if done collaboratively.

“RISDA has been asked to expand downstream industry projects for implementation through collaboration with Felda and Felcra, including in the management of farms and factories,” he said.

The collaboration will focus on projects affecting smallholders. Ismail Sabri suggested setting up a vehicle spare parts factory shared by benefactors of all three agencies.

“The three agencies can share in setting up a rubber-based vehicle spare part factory to produce car spare parts, tyres and others for mutual benefits,” he said.

RISDA is also finding ways to help 532,000 smallholders in the country. The agency already gave 10,000 smallholders a financial assistance of RM10,000 each so to fund business ideas.
