Formula 1 CEO Bernie Ecclestone mentioned a “done deal” with tyre company Pirelli to be the official tyre supplier until 2019.

The announcement was made public after Ecclestone met and shook hands with Pirelli’s chairman Marco Tronchetti Provera before the Russian Grand Prix.

Formula 1 has been in talks with both Pirelli and Michelin for the official supplier spot for weeks now. A spokesman from F1 confirmed the contract renewal with Pirelli. And Pirelli has told Motorsport.com that the deal was complete.

“We’re delighted to confirm that we reached a commercial agreement with Bernie Ecclestone to remain in Formula One for the 2017-2019 period,” said Pirelli Motorsport Director Paul Hembery. “The process to the formal FIA official nomination will follow with its procedure.”
