Momentive wins patent suit against China’s Ecopower

Momentive Performance Materials Inc says that a Chinese court has ruled that Ecopower (Yongxiu) New Materials Co. Limited’s and Ecopower (Guangzhou) New Materials Co. Limited’s manufacture and sale of a product was in violation of a Momentive patent for NXT silane. The Ecopower companies have appealed the court’s ruling.

Momentive’s victory in enforcing its NXT silane patent rights illustrates its policy of actively protecting and enforcing its global intellectual property. “Momentive has a long history of innovation and we take protection of our intellectual property very seriously,” said John Moran, Momentive Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “We have and will continue to vigorously enforce our intellectual property rights around the world.”

Silica compounds coupled with NXT silane have exhibited improved silica dispersion, easier mixing, and faster, pliable processing. Compounds containing NXT silane have also shown lower Payne Effect, as well as improved tan d values and resilience properties.

In addition, NXT silane can typically be used with high surface area silica and functionalized polymers for easy processing of high- performance compounds. Green compounds made with NXT silane have demonstrated stability for a significantly longer time without reflocculation.
