Minnesota Rubber closes ageing US plant

Minnesota RubberMINNESOTA Rubber and Plastics, a manufacturing plant in Watertown, Minneapolis, announced that it will be closing its plant in one year, resulting in 180 workers being laid off jobs after January 15, 2014.

The company, which manufactures the Standard O-Ring, Quad-Rings Brand and custom seals, has arrived at the decision due to the ageing Watertown facility, which was built in 1966, it said.

Nonetheless, the Watertown production will be moved to the firm’s other six manufacturing facilities across the country and in China.
