Lanxess partners with NTDA on labelling

Speciality chemicals company, Lanxess is partnering with the National Tyre Distributor’s Association (NTDA) to ensure tyre dealers and wholesalers across the UK have everything they need to prepare for mandatory tyre labelling when it is introduced on 1 November.
According to the two parties, the NTDA and Lanxess both recognise the need to ensure retailers selling tyres in the UK have the information they need to cope with new demands from customers. Together they are going to deliver a range of information and tools that will help the tyre community get up to speed quickly on this new and important topic. This includes written materials and articles for the UK tyre press, the development of an online video explaining how tyre labels work and the information available to customers, and the launch of an application for iPhone, iPad, Android devices and PCs that enables garages and fitters to demonstrate the amount of money different tyres can save their customers every year.
As part of the agreement Lanxess will also be sponsoring the NTDA Tyre and Fast Fit (TAFF) Awards in October this year where it will demonstrate the application and brief the industry on what tyre labelling means for the sector.
“Tyre labelling is going to change the tyre industry forever,” explains Kim O’Connor, Country Representative of Lanxess in the UK. “Customers are going to be asking a lot more questions about the tyres they buy and they will expect their suppliers to know the answers. For those suppliers who don’t have sufficient information it will become more difficult to accurately guide motorists on the choices they make and maintain the necessary and important trust that encourages future business opportunities. For those that educate themselves and make the most of the changes to demonstrate their understanding of the sector, it will be a great opportunity to grow and develop. Lanxess and the NTDA will work together to ensure that every tyre distributor in the UK has access to the information required to respond effectively.”

“This is an important partnership for the industry,” explained Richard Edy, director of the NTDA. “Lanxess and the NTDA have complementary knowledge and experience. We have a strong connection to the UK network of tyre retailers and distributors and understand what they need to do their jobs effectively. Lanxess offers the in-depth understanding of how tyre labelling works and why tyre materials impact performance against the labelling criteria. By working in partnership we can provide the accurate and valuable support to UK tyre distributors at this critical time for the industry.”
