DRI Rubber’s livestock rubber mats recently granted US patent

Dutch rubber supplier DRI Rubber (DRI) has gained a US patent for its “game-changing” livestock rubber mat system that is reportedly “unbreakable, durable and animal-friendly.” Developed using DRI’s fibre reinforcement technology (FRC), the new rubber fastener is safer and stronger than conventional methods of securing livestock rubber mats; plus, the product is much easier to install and replace.

To avoid sudden movement in farms, rubber mats are usually directly bonded to concrete panels or secured using metal components such as screws, bolts, or brackets.

Robert de Ruijter, CEO of DRI, said existing metal-plastic fasteners, which break due to the forces caused by the heavy animals, frequently cause injuries.Broken off fasteners are also likely to fall into the manure storage and recovery systems, causing blockage and unwanted downtime.
