Qingdao Xiyingmen Double Camel Tyre Co. Ltd., in cooperation with Lionshead Specialty Tire & Wheel LLC, is recalling certain Vail Sport ST LH 99 tubeless trailer tyres. The number of potential units affected is 1,440.
The tyres, in size 225/75D15, load range D, were manufactured from July 14, 2013, through July 27, 2013. They have a sidewall date code of 2813 or 2913, and a United States Department of Transportation (DOT) Code of 69.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Office of Defects Investigation (ODI), the affected tyres “may fail under prolonged use and may become unseated from the rims. As such, these tyres fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 119, ” New Pneumatic Tyres for Vehicles Other Than Passenger Cars.”
Failure or unseating of the tyre increases the risk of a crash, adds the ODI.
