Daikin builds fluoro-rubber project in Changshu

Daikin Industries is building new fluoro-rubber capacity in Changshu, China. It was originally scheduled to come on stream in January 2013 but local reports suggest that it may be delayed until mid-year.

The company said in July 2011 that it will build new capacity with an investment of EUR30 million. The Changshu pant will be the third pole for Daikin after its plants in Settsu, Osaka and Lyon, France.

Daikin said demand for fluoro-rubber in China was worth yen 8000 million in 2010, rising to yen 13,000 million by 2015. Daikin said the new investment will take its share in China to 30% to 40% by 2015, from the current figure of 10 percent.

The project is due on stream in June 2013, and is part of a broader fluorine chemical expansion in Changshu, Jiangsu Province.
