ContiTech to invest in facility expansion

ContiTech to invest in facility expansionGERMAN automotive parts supplier ContiTech is expanding production capacity at its headquarters in Hannover-Vahrenwald. The company has initiated investment in the double-digit million range and expects this to be implemented by 2013.
“We are strengthening the existing expertise and positioning the location for a successful future,” says Plant Manager Konrad Müller. Some 200 new jobs have been added since early 2010 and further positions are to be created by 2013.
ContiTech has a workforce of around 1,800 employees at its plant in Vahrenwald. It is also installing new production machines, expanding existing machines and building up the material preparation. Construction is underway for a new raw materials hall in 2011.
All business units located at the plant will be contributing to the investments. The ContiTech Power Transmission Group makes timing belts, v-ribbed belts and v-belts for car and truck engines, as well as for industrial systems for worldwide demand. At the Vahrenwald plant, ContiTech Air Spring Systems manufactures air spring systems for commercial vehicles, rail vehicles and industrial applications. Further investments are planned and have already been implemented here as well, since the demand for ContiTech air spring systems continues to rise.(PRA)
