At the CV Show in Birmingham, UK, which is held from April 29 through May 1, Continental will be presenting its newly developed tire range Conti Hybrid for the first time. In response to the diversity of the regional transport segment, Continental is introducing a whole tire family, in 17.5, 19.5, and 22.5 inch formats. The range will address the challenges faced in regional delivery with long tire life and a high degree of fuel efficiency.

Specially developed for city and regional distribution, at 17.5 inch rim diameter, the Conti Hybrid LS3 for steer axles and the Conti Hybrid LD3 for drive axles, are suitable for light trucks up to a total weight of 12 tonnes.

The new Conti Hybrid HS3 and Conti Hybrid HD3 in 19.5 inch formats for steer and drive axles are designed for vehicles of over 12 tonnes total weight. The new Conti Hybrid tires allow for the higher unladen weight of modern Euro 6 vehicles and are designed for varying load conditions, as is usual in regional transportation. The Conti Hybrid HT3 19.5 provides tires that are perfectly adapted for semitrailers and trailers. The steering axle tire Conti Hybrid HS3 with a tire dimension of 22.5 inches is breaking new ground for applications in the heavy segment. The Conti Hybrid tires will be launched on the market at the start of the second half of 2014.

The new Conti Hybrid tires for mixed use: The Conti Hybrid HS3 315/80 R 22.5 steering axle tire for heavy trucks, and the steering and driving axle tires Conti Hybrid HS3 and Conti Hybrid HD3 215/75 R 17.5 for light trucks.

Another highlight at the Continental booth 5D70 at the CV Show in Birmingham is the tire family Conti EcoPlus, which was presented at the start of the year and is specially designed for use predominantly on expressways and freeways. The Conti EcoPlus tire concept is perfectly adapted to this and aims to provide maximum optimization of rolling resistance for a significant reduction in fuel consumption. With rolling resistance reductions of up to 26 percent compared to successful previous series, up to 1.9 liters of fuel are saved with the Conti EcoPlus over 100 km – with the high mileage and renowned reliability of Continental premium tires.

With the 3rd generation of truck and bus tires, Continental has also introduced a new terminology. This comprises the name of the corresponding tire range, so for truck tires Conti EcoPlus and Conti Hybrid, for bus tires Conti Coach, Conti CityPlus, and Conti Urban, and then the identifier H for heavy and L for light commercial vehicles. Then follows the identifier for the axle position, S for the steering axle, D for the driving axle, T for trailer and semitrailer tires, or A for all-round tire fitments, and it’s finished off with the number 3 as an indication of the 3rd generation of tires.
