Conti launches latest winter tyres

conti-tyre

Continental launched its new premium winter tyres, Winter Contact TS 850 P. The tyre range will be available at leading tyre dealer stores from coming fall.

New Generation Winter Tyres

Continental Winter Contact TS 850P is the new generation of winter tyres from the leading manufacturer, and it comes loaded with several innovative technical features. Designed for performance vehicles and SUVs, these specialized asymmetrical tyres have been developed to provide a completely safe and smooth ride on snow covered roads.

The most significant feature in the new Continental tyres is its engineering. The tyre includes significantly improved performance abilities and outperforms its predecessors too. For example, the Winter Contact TS 850 P offers amazing handling both on dry and snow covered surfaces.

A Superior Tread

The Continental Winter Contact TS 850P has highly superior tread features. It comes packed with a sophisticated asymmetrical tread pattern, which enables the car to experience greater braking ability, even at high speeds.

The tread is also equipped with high angle grooves and sipes, which help counter all the major concerns of winter driving. Continental’s development engineers have also included more tread blocks on the surface, leading to a substantial increase in size of its lateral edges. TS 850 P therefore shows a significant rise of 5% in its handling abilities, both on dry surfaces and wintry roads.

Interestingly, the stiff tyre surface helps during sharp manoeuvres and also while steering the vehicle at high speeds.

The tyre also includes shorter sidewalls, which aid the build-up of lateral forces and help the car move faster. The sipes in the centre as well as on the sides have a unique ability to pick up more snow and translate this into friction, thereby increasing tyres’ adhesion. This helps the tyre move easily despite heavy snow.

The SUV Version

The SUV version, known as the Winter Contact TS 850 P SUV, has bigger and better tread blocks to prevent stones from getting picked up on gravel roads. What’s most significant in this bigger version of the tyre is that it has a very solid frame, which is meant to effectively bear the weight of the SUV, and balance the forces felt during braking, cornering or even while accelerating.

Product Range

The latest Winter Contact TS 850P has been designed to offer sturdy support to more powerful and sporty vehicles. The tyres therefore will be packed in sizes of 16 to 20 inch rims with widths ranging from 205 to 275 millimetres. Being a potentially strong tyre, the TS850 P has the ability to support dynamic speeds of up to 270 km/h.

New Nomenclature

While so long the tyres from the brand were usually prefixed with the word ‘Conti’, the Winter Contact TS 850P tyre will pioneer the trend for a new nomenclature to be used for both its summer and winter radials.

The new names are a part of Continental’s plan to bring in consistency in nomenclature, across all its products sold all over the world.
