Chinese carbon black plant for Cabot

carbon blackCabot has entered into a joint venture with Risun Chemicals, a wholly owned subsidiary of Risun Coal Chemicals Group. Both companies will invest US$100 million to construct a carbon black facility in Xingtai City, 400 km south of Beijing.

The company said the investment builds on its strong position in China, where demand for carbon black continues to grow. Once commissioned in early 2013, the Xingtai facility will produce approximately 130,000 tonnes/year of carbon black with the potential for expansion to 300,000 tonnes. The new plant will employ advanced emissions control technology and energy recapture, said Cabot.
