As a major supplier of release systems to the tyre industry, French supplier Bluestar Silicones will launch several new products in its Lyndcoat range at Tire Technology Expo 2014, to be held in Cologne, Germany from 11-13 February. Lyndcoat release agents can be tailor-made to fit manufacturers’ processes and meet their needs of productivity, quality and reliability, says the firm.

Often, the release agent application step limits the tyre production capacity and requires important investment to be able to increase production volumes. In order to overcome this or to avoid investment, Bluestar Silicones’ latest generation multi-release inside paint Lyndcoat BR2512 has been developed. The challenge for Bluestar Silicones was to propose a new multi-release agent, with overall improved properties. It allows customers to decrease their costs, and gives the best possible compromise between durability, slip and air bleed, resulting in very low defect rates and high bladder life extension.

During the development of BR2512, Bluestar concentrated on combining improved durability with high air bleed and excellent slip, giving access to reduced defect rates and improved bladder life. A factory trial comparing BR2512 bladder release with a non-filled, multi-release material showed drastic reduction of off centre tyres and a 20% increase in bladder life.

In addition to these productivity improvements, Bluestar has also focused on the cost of the release agent treatment. BR2512 allows for a reduction in coat weight, while still offering high performance and low defect rates. This insures a direct benefit for customers due to reduced release agent consumption and significant savings in occupied warehouse space and internal transport.
