Austrian Semperit drafts new industrial rubber strategy; appoints new COO for 2020

Vienna-based rubber manufacturer Semperit AG Holding (Semperit) has unveiled a new strategy for its Industrial Rubber unit. According to Semperit, the four segments of the new strategy will comprise Semperit’s ‘profiles’ and ‘rubber sheeting’ business units which will be separated from the Semperform segment and operate as a segment of its own, under the name Semper Seal, from January 1, 2020; Semperform will then focus on handrails, sheave and bull-wheel liners for ropeways, ski foils and ‘engineered Solutions’

Dr. Martin Füllenbach, CEO of Semperit, said the group is “investing in local production” as part of its expansion programme in the North American economic area – the move will be accompanied by increased customer support in North America and a “customer excellence center” unit for application-specific solutions including undeveloped industries, digitisation and new products. In addition, Semperit’s board will also continue to review “various strategic options” for its Medical Sector.

Meanwhile, Semperit has appointed former Trelleborg director Kristian Brok as its new COO. Brok most recently worked on the executive board of Trelleborg Sealing Solutions and is to focus on the development of Semperit’s ‘lean programme’ as well as the supply-chain management and the mixing business when he takes up position in January 2020.
